The 26th Kadayawan Festival 2011 Davao city,is an annual celebration of life, thanks for the gift of nature,wealth of culture, the bounties of harvest and the serenity of living. Kadayawan derives from the friendly greetings "MADAYAW" from the Dabawenyo word "DAYAW"meaning good,valuable,superior or beautiful.
The kadayawan festival is a long celebration at the month of August. Plenty of fruits at the streets sold by the vendors,the agro industrial trade fair,night bars at the streets located at the center of the city. It is the season of durian fruit which davao city is known for. Its was named by a famous line "Smell like hell but Taste like heaven".

The festival are highlighted with exhibits, street dancing competitions in colorful costumes, floral float parade, cultural dance, that showcase the city tourism product and services.

The festival will not be completed without The Hiyas ng Kadayawan,which participated by every tribes in davao city. The winner of the pageant would be the ambassadress of the lumads,to help educate the unfortunate lumads children and be the voice of every tribes in davao city. Variety of tribes parade in the streets with their tribal costumes and jewelry.Not only local will celebrates the festival but also foreign people wants to experienced on how's the Dabaweyos celebrate the Kadayawan festival.
The festival from the government initiated program called "Unlad Proyekto sa Davao"in 1986,planned to unite the Davaowenyos after the chaotic martial law and to showcase the city as a peaceful,colorful place to visit and to do business in.

Davao was famous for Mt. Apo the country's highest peak, Durian king of fruits, and Waling waling the queen of orchids. Davao is also home of majestic Philippine Eagle the national bird.
